Palms are grown spreaded in the world, exist from the tropical area until subtropical area and even can grow in desert.Palms are regarded as being second only to the grasses in term of their economic importance. Palm are used extensively for a vast range of purposes including food, house construction, magic, medicine, weaving, clothing, decoration, and even writing materials-the earlier literature in the region was written on the leave of the lontar palm.

Other kind of Palm that much grow in south east area like Areca Nuts.The batelnut or areca nut (Areca catechu), known locally as pinang sirih, occurs throughout Southeast Asia, growing best in humid lowlands. In Indonesia, this palm is found in home gardens, where one or two trees are cultivated to provide for household purposes only. It is a slender palm with featherlike leaves, growing to a height of 12 meters.

The most important product of this palm is its sugary sap, hence its common name. Kind of palm have good produce for sugar palm can found many in Indo-Malayan Archipelago like in Indonesia and malaysia. The sap exudes from the cut stalk of the inflorescence, an average yield of about six liters can be obtained each day. This sap makes a refreshing drink neera, but may also be boiled down to make gula merah, a dark sugar. Palm wine, or tuak, is made by allowing fermentation of the sap, and vinegar is produced if this process is continued further. Distillation of tuak produces the potent drink, arak, and also alcohol for industrial purposes. The sugar palm is also a valuable source of ijuk, the fiber which covers the trunk of this palm. It is used throughout Indonesia because of its great durability, making excellent cordage, thatching, matting and brushes. Fiber is also recovered from the roots, trunk pith and leaf stalks, although this is a lower quality.

Palm that very fantastic is Lontar tree, even this tree have small fruit but this fruit is sweet and very suitable mixed with ice to be a baverage. The tree is include on palm tree that grow in South East Asia. This tree become the identity of South Sulawesi of Indonesia, beside this tree Sulawesi also have many kind coco plant grown here like coconut. Lontar tree can be utilized from the leave, the trunk, the fruit and the flower to be bugged get Nira or Legen, and if this legen being fermented can be changed to palm wine.
