Lotus Plant

Lotus plant is one of the aquatic plant that have interested flower, so people like to decorate their fishes pond bu this plant. Lotus plant also have interesting properties of their leaf that can not be wetted. Their leaf is covered by wax layer so they can't wet even dipped on the water. If some water fall unto the leaf, then water like being spilled off.

Some scienties research this properties in order they can create imitate the properties of this leaf to apply to some good they want to create. They want to produce a coating material that have this properties so that the function can work maximum. Lei Jiang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing and his colleagues have discovered why despite the lotus leaf floating on water, no water flowing into the leaf.

Nelumbo contains but two species. The American lotus, N lutea, is found in the eastern half of the United States into southern Canada. It has a thick, spreading rootstock and large, circular, bluish green leaves that are usually raised above the surface of the water. The pale yellow flowers usually open on three successive days. The East Indian lotus, N. nucifera of southern Asia, has been a sacred symbol in many cultures.
